Promoting safer winter driving was at the heart of a police operation on Brackmills this month, with police traffic officers and special constables targeting drivers travelling on and off the estate.
The police operation took place on November 14th, with Northamptonshire Police joining forces with the estate’s own dedicated Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Ian Taylor to cut speeding and promote safety.
Brackmills PCSO Ian said: “Road safety is a priority on Brackmills, an estate committed to nurturing a safe, accident-free community. This operation was a great opportunity for the police to continue working closely with the estate, to raise awareness about the importance of safe driving, particularly during the winter months when conditions can become more hazardous.
“Our message is clear - speeding, drink driving, driving without a seatbelt and using mobile phones while driving will not be tolerated on Brackmills, where we take safety extremely seriously. As part of the operation we also conducted safety checks on vehicles to ensure cars are prepared for winter driving conditions.”
Brackmills Industrial Estate is a Business Improvement District (BID), an initiative which sees resident companies pooling funds to bring about a host of improvements and projects across the estate. Road safety is a BID priority and, in partnership with the local authorities and Northamptonshire Police, the estate aims to increase road safety and reduce accidents and road casualties.
In addition to this police operation the Brackmills BID has funded extra supplies of salt, to keep estate roads safe and passable when there is a high confidence of snowfall this winter.
