ICT Asset Disposal
In order to provide clients with piece of mind regarding the disposal of their ICT equipment, SAS are registered with the Information Commissioners Office and the Environment Agency and meet with all of the regulations and guidelines for processing data and waste. Their status as a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher enables us them to remarket 2nd user PC’s and Laptops to maximise the residual value whilst also providing affordable computers to those at a disadvantage.
The SAS ICT Asset Disposal solution utilises their own secure fleet or GPS Tracked, Alarmed, Rigid Sided vehicles certified by ADISA (Asset Disposal Information Security Alliance). The transportation of data bearing assets is generally viewed as the highest risk element of the ICT Asset Disposal process. SAS Logistics position as a recognised leader in the field of transporting data bearing ICT assets means they can minimise this risk and cost by transporting the equipment directly to their facility without the need for subcontractors or 3rd party hubs. All of crews are BPSS security cleared as a minimum, SAS have staff that are cleared up to SC level ensuring a competent, professional and secure service.
When equipment reaches their facility data is sanitised through overwriting or physical destruction processes meeting Government guidelines (HMG IA Standard No.5), equipment is reused or recycled in compliance with WEEE Regulations at their facility. Once equipment is classed as ‘data safe’ it is tested and graded, the aim is to maximise the residual value in IT equipment enabling a revenue return to their clients. Where there is value SAS remarket the equipment, any other equipment is recycled compliantly avoiding landfill.
Onsite Media Shredding
In addition to our secure offsite data sanitisation solutions, SAS run onsite shredding services destroying HDD’s, Tapes, Mobile Phones and Optical media on our Lorry based shredder. Clients who place a high value on the security of their data use the onsite service for data and can combine this with the disposal service for the remaining equipment.
At the end of the process for on and offsite data sanitisation services clients receive reporting and certification for the disposal and data sanitisation of equipment.
