Keith Dorrill, Facility Operations Manager at GXO, joined the BID Board of Directors in Summer 2025. We caught up with him to find out more about his day job, what inspired him to get involved with the BID and what he hopes to bring to the role.

Tell us a little about your role at GXO – what does your day-to-day look like?

I have worked at GXO for 22 years on the Wickes contract – with the last 9 of those being based on the Brackmills estate. As Facilities Operations Manager, I oversee site infrastructure compliance and continuity across our operations. I’m responsible for coordinating implementation projects, managing site security and environmental responsibilities. It’s a role that keeps me constantly engaged and problem-solving to ensure everything runs smoothly.

What was your first experience of the BID?

I attended a Cyber Security event at Delapre Abbey. It was well organised with relevant content tailored to local businesses. That event really opened my eyes to the value of what the BID was doing.

Were you familiar with BIDs before working at Brackmills?

No, I wasn’t. Having the chance to attend various BID events and talk to existing directors really helped me understand what a BID is all about and the positive impact it can have on an estate like ours.

What made you want to get involved as a BID Director?

After attending several events and speaking with other directors, it felt like an exciting project to be part of. I was genuinely interested in contributing at a more strategic level and helping shape the future of Brackmills.

What strengths do you think you’ll bring to the role?

I bring strategic thinking, leadership and strong communication skills. Working with such a passionate and driven team makes my job easier, and I’m keen to leverage these strengths to support the BID’s objectives and drive meaningful progress.

What ideas do you have to support and take the BID forward?

I’m passionate about keeping everyone who works or visits Brackmills safe and secure. At the same time, I want to support the modernisation and development of the experience on the estate. It’s about striking that balance between security and creating an environment where businesses can thrive and grow.

What would you say to anyone thinking about getting more involved with the BID?

Get involved. It’s a very proactive group of like-minded people providing valuable support to businesses on Brackmills. You’ll stay up to date and informed on the latest news and developments in the community, and you’ll be part of something that genuinely makes a difference.

What’s your favourite hobby outside of work?

Fishing and football – though these days I’m relegated to being a supporter rather than playing!
