Trilogy Active: a welcome addition to the Brackmills community
We are delighted to welcome Trilogy Active to Brackmills, further enhancing the health and wellbeing facilities available on the estate.
Brackmills is home to a growing and diverse community of businesses, and the latest arrival further enhances the health and wellbeing facilities available on the estate. We spoke to Martin Pask about Trilogy Active, the not-for-profit organisation opening a brand new gym at Units 9 and 10, Scotia Close, and why Brackmills felt like the right fit.
Reinvesting in people and communities since 2011
Trilogy Active was established in 2011 as a not-for-profit social enterprise. Any surplus it generates goes straight back into its facilities, its staff and its community projects. That founding principle shapes everything the organisation does, and it is one of the reasons Trilogy has built a loyal following across the Midlands.
Operating from a central base in Northampton, Trilogy runs three distinct strands of activity: health and fitness, swim schools and junior academies working in partnership with local schools, and Berzerk Active Play – its popular soft play brand for younger children. Locally, its venues include Cripps Recreation Centre at Northampton General Hospital, Duston Sports Centre, and Berzerk sites across the Midlands – with the newest opening in Atherstone last year.
The biggest gym in the Trilogy portfolio
The Brackmills site will be Trilogy’s largest gym to date – over 10,000 square feet, with 108 fitness stations spanning cardio, strength, free weights and functional training. There will be two open-plan studios running Les Mills, spinning, Pilates and yoga, as well as a dedicated yoga studio.
When the right space came up on Scotia Close, Martin says the decision was straightforward. “We immediately had a vision for what it could be. The location, the accessibility, the parking…everything just aligned. And Brackmills has a strong sense of community. That really matters to us.”
For every body
Accessibility is at the heart of everything Trilogy does. Its Trilogy Active Life membership is offered on a no-contract monthly basis, and gives members access not just to the Brackmills gym but also to Cripps Recreation Centre – with its 25-metre pool and classes – and to Duston Sports Centre.
Martin says, “We want to make our centres accessible to all. Whether it’s someone coming to learn to swim for the first time, or someone nervous about setting foot in a gym, we nurture them, work with them, and hope that ultimately it becomes a lifestyle choice. Those are the stories that make this job worthwhile.”
The gym will be open from 6am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 6am to 6pm at weekends, with flexibility to extend hours depending on demand.
Come and take a look
Ahead of the official opening on Saturday 27th June, Trilogy is holding a series of open days and workers from across the estate are invited to come and see the facility taking shape. Fitness instructors and managers will be there to meet visitors and show people around.
Open day dates: Wednesday 10th June and Wednesday 17th June (8am-6pm), Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June (8am to 12pm), and Tuesday 24th to Thursday 26th June (8am to 8pm). The gym opens officially on Saturday 27th June.
Getting involved from the start
Trilogy has hit the ground running when it comes to being part of the Brackmills community. Martin has already attended a BID Breakfast, met CEO Sara Homer and several neighbouring businesses, and is looking forward to joining the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Forum. The team is also open to partnership conversations with businesses across the estate – whether that’s corporate wellbeing sessions, workplace visits or simply getting to know their neighbours.
“We want to play an active role in this community,” he says. “That’s what we’ve always done. And Brackmills already feels like the right kind of place for us to be.”
