Congratulations to Glynn…our latest Brackmills Hero

A shunter driver on the GXO Wickes contract here at Brackmills, Glynn Mitchell has been nominated as our latest Brackmills Hero after completing a remarkable solo cycling challenge in July, riding from Northampton to Edinburgh in memory of his mother.

Following his mother’s passing, and inspired by the care she and his family received from hospital staff and aftercare organisations, Glynn wanted to give something back. After six months of dedicated training and planning, he set off on a six day, 365 mile solo ride north, averaging more than 60 miles a day.

The route took him through some of the UK’s most striking scenery, including the rolling hills of Yorkshire and Cumbria, with overnight stops ranging from a monastery to a pod in the heart of the Lake District. Along the way he faced burst tyres and a broken chain, but nothing stopped him reaching Edinburgh.

The entire challenge was self funded, with Glynn cycling in aid of Cancer Research UK. His JustGiving page has raised more than £770 so far, with donations still very much welcome.

Glynn, we’re proud to have you on Brackmills. Congratulations on an incredible achievement, and thank you for raising both funds and awareness for such a vital cause.
