Meet Shabana Parkes, the newest member of the Brackmills BID team
Our new Administrator, Shabana, brings with her a varied and substantial career background and a genuine enthusiasm for the work of the BID…
Behind the many projects, events, security initiatives and communications that keep the Brackmills estate running smoothly, there is a small, tight-knit BID team and we are pleased to introduce our newest member: Shabana Parkes. Shabana recently joined as Administrator, bringing with her a varied and substantial career background and a genuine enthusiasm for the work of the BID.
A career built on engagement and research
Shabana came to Northampton to study at University and has been based here ever since. Her early career spanned the Learning and Skills Council and a series of sector skills councils, where she developed a strong grounding in data analysis, employer research and stakeholder engagement. Her work focused on understanding skills gaps, giving employers a direct voice in shaping training frameworks, and translating research findings into practical recommendations for colleges and organisations. Notably, she worked within the logistics sector skills council – directly relevant to the Brackmills community – gaining insight into the workforce challenges and priorities of an industry well represented on this estate.
Shabana then spent a decade in executive search, recruiting senior professionals into healthcare and life sciences organisations. It was work that demanded close attention to detail, careful listening and the ability to build trust with clients quickly – skills she brings directly to her role at the BID.
Why the BID?
When the administrator role at Brackmills BID came up, it stood out. It was local, varied and people-facing in exactly the way Shabana had been looking for. “I love the variety in this role,” she says. “One minute you’re dealing with infrastructure, the next it’s health and wellbeing, then logistics awards. It’s a really interesting mix.” She was equally drawn to the team. “It’s a fantastic small team to work in – friendly and welcoming – and being out and about meeting people is what I love.”
As a local resident, having a connection to the area and its community matters to Shabana. She understands the changes the BID has brought to the estate and the value it adds…not just in infrastructure and security, but in the fabric of working life for the 18,000 people employed here.
What Shabana will be doing – and how to get in touch
Shabana is here to support BID Chief Executive Sara Homer and the BID board, and to be a direct point of contact for levy-paying members across the estate. Her work includes:
- Coordinating and registering attendees for BID events, including the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Forum, BID Breakfasts & Networking, Security meetings and the AGM
- Updating or creating your business directory profile on the Brackmills BID website
- Making sure the right people in your organisation are subscribed to receive BID newsletters, communications and safety and security alerts
- Onboarding support if your business is new to the estate or has recently expanded its presence — including how to make the most of BID membership from day one
- Connecting you with our Communications team for initiatives such as the Business Spotlight features, Brackmills Hero awards and news stories
- Any general enquiry about the BID, its services or how it can support your business

Shabana adds: “I am really looking forward to getting to know the businesses and people that make up the Brackmills community – and to demonstrating the real value that the BID adds to the estate every day.”
