Here we talk to Jame Bignell, a mechanic at the UK’s first ever Voi e-scooters branch, which is based on Weddel Way in Brackmills …

“Voi started out in Stockholm, Sweden and was set up by a handful of people who had an idea about making a cleaner and less polluting way of travelling around a city. Brackmills is its first UK base and we have a fleet of over 3,000 scooters here in our Northampton warehouse.

We chose Brackmills because this is the perfect location in terms of getting to and from Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough, and Rushden. We are also now running the Oxford line from Brackmills too and we are geographically in the perfect location.

The estate has excellent accessibility to all the bike paths and you’re able to get here from the town centre easily so all our members of staff can get scooters to their workplace. The roads and paths are green and clean too and which is a real hit with our staff.

We are very grateful to the BID for increasing the number of food outlets on Brackmills. This means our staff can go out in their breaks and choose from a selection of places to eat.

Another BID benefit is security. We get regular security alerts sent out to us from the BID team, letting us know if there are any security issues or incidents on the estate, and this means we can respond and adapt promptly. Thank you.”
